The Seafood Festival began in 1980 and the first one was held on the grounds of the Haleyville-Mauricetown School. It out grew that area and the next one festival was held on Highland Street at the Mauricetown Academy. From there, it moved to where it is today on the grounds of the Mauricetown Fire Hall. The festival started out with approximately 700 people and has grown today of about 2,100 between a two day event as compared to being one day when the festival first started.

Four fire companies operate the festival, being Port Norris Fire Co., Mauricetown Fire Co., Laurel Lake Fire Co., and the Dividing Creek Fire Co. Work begins about 30 days prior to the festival with the ordering of food, breading the oysters and preparing the grounds. Food served consists of oysters, clams, stews, crabs, hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, BBQ pork and beer & soda. Costs is $20.00 per person and a phone number will be posted during the advertisement of the festival for reservations.

Tickets can be purchased at the door. The Festival is held during the last weekend in September rain or shine.
